Monsoon Delta

An aerial view of a river braiding out to sea, painted the way it feels from above rather than the way a camera would record it. Deep ultramarine channels cut through emerald islands, gold sandbars catch the light along every edge, and the water in the foreground drops into violet where it runs deepest.

The scale is what makes the colour work — the deep channel running out of the lower edge only reveals its full range of blues when the canvas is big enough to walk toward.
